Personality

Henry is unassuming. A young man at the beginning of his educational journey, fresh-faced and starting pre-med. There’s a question if he has the social skills for a bedside manner, his professors had hinted he might be more suited to doctor in the research field or a surgeon. It much harder to be off-putting to patients who are firmly under and unconscious. However, creeping thoughts warn him away.

He is one of the less flamboyant Graves. Henry lurks behind them all, quietly observing. Occasionally recording their conversations and follies in his daily journal, written in indecipherable short-hand. He is often seen with his nose in a textbook and smudges on his glasses. He’s an expert at walking and reading without walking into traffic.When he does speak up he is frequently sarcastic and condescending, while he does consider his siblings equal to him his classmates were another story entirely.

Despite his sullen, aloof impression he's a bit of an adrenaline junkie. He will take reckless action time and time again to feel a rush. He drives like a madman, dabbles in illegal substances and can be something of a peeping tom.

Few people see beyond his first impression. He doesn’t talk about himself much nor does he take the spotlight enough to reveal much by observation. His sponsors have had a glimpse or two, but they’ve proven hard for him to hold on to, being transferred to “better equipped” women more than once. When he does open up in that way he tends to creep people out, both in tone and subject matter too often expressing interest in taboos that make people uncomfortable.

Appearance

Henry's ethnicity is a mystery born from years of mixed marriages and closed borders. There is some definite Asian heritage in appearance but nothing specific. He has a olive skin tone and a wide smile when he shows it. Frequently wears thick, dark framed glasses. Stands five foot eight.

History

Henry does not know where he came from. Just a baby shuffled into the system. Maybe his parents were executed, maybe they died in some dramatic fashion. No one has every told him and he has no real drive to find out.

As a baby he was passed over. An upset, colicky baby that couldn't seem to stop howling held little appeal to even the most kind souls. He spent most of his childhood in the orphanage, becoming a sullen, ill-adjusted kid. But he was smart, that was his saving grace. When he started school he was praise. A little gold star applied to his soul, just enough glint to catch an eye.

Henry believes that Greyson Grave recognized some of himself in him. Something about the shift of his eyes, the quiet way he watched the world around him. The man came back for him after all, letting him join faces he remembered from the orphanage - even if none of them remembered him. He was twelve at the time.

Thus began the second half of his life. Though it might have been a subtle change to most people, Henry sees it as the time when he came into his own. The young man connected strongly with Greyson, feeling like he was destined to follow his adoptive father's footsteps. Often lying on his study floor and reading his medical text books, even the gory surgery ones without so much as a flinch.

Even as the other brothers started to point out the cracks in his father figure, Henry struggled with it. Their lone sister was growing up into a pretty girl, was it so horrible to notice it. Or were they all lying to themselves by telling themselves they shouldn't want her...

Henry was perhaps one of the hardest to convince. Even on the day he thought about only pretending to put his drop of point in their father's food. But his brothers were watching too closely. He told himself he did it for Mathilde but it was probably more the fear of his brothers that made him squeeze the dropper. Though he did feel a intense shock of adrenaline in doing it, one that he thinks about now and relives.

He is still conflicted with it. Henry struggles to remember their father as a villain as he himself is tempted but some of the "crimes" his brothers places on Greyson. What if his brothers sniff him out one day? Realize he's too much like him and try to take him out of the family too?

For this reason he keeps his lips shut tight. And keeps an arm's length away from Mathilde even though he thinks about her frequently when alone. His sponsorship has been enlightening to say the least. There is much that Henry wants from women, but he finds them reluctant to provide it. He knows the sponsors are playing hot potatoes with his appointments and he hopes a wife who's stuck with him might fix the situation. Certainly if a girl was forced to give him a chance she might come to find he's not so bad.
