The year is 2191.

The country is the United States.

The current regime, The Trust, has been in power for over one hundred years.

The Trust takes care of you from cradle to grave--they provide you with housing, education, jobs, vehicles--but, in exchange, they control everything about your life. What color car you will drive. Where you will live. And, most important of all: who you will marry and how many children you will have.

Do you fight them or favor them?

History Ver was born in Tidewater to pro trust parents and a golden boy older brother. She didn't enter the world alone and ever since they came into this world, Verity and Justyce have never been apart for more than a short period of time. Justyce was Ver's best friend and in a sense, her partner in crime if she could coax her enough. Prior to the start of school, Ver had a very fun and traditional childhood. Mom and dad were happy - the ideal trust couple and her brother was doting on both her and Justyce.

And then irritation came in the form of a bracelet. When a technician came by to put it on her and her sister, Verity cried. She didn't like to wear jewelry, let alone a bracelet that would constantly be rubbing against her wrist. Thankfully the bracelet was more comfortable than she realized and Ver soon grew to simply ignore it. School was well, school. Ver wasn't the biggest fan of it but she worked hard because she wanted to make her parents proud. In some cases, she welcomed the challenge, just to the smirk off of one of her classmate's faces. It was kind of like a game and she liked being ahead.

The most boring class of all was flower arranging. Ver liked flowers and she was decent at arranging things but the art of arranging flowers was lost on her. They were just aesthetics in a vase, did it matter what order they were in? Ver simply ordered it according to a system - a red one here, a yellow one there and hoped it was passable. Her mother went the extra mile to have her practice on the weekends after lunch, it was agonizing.

If anything, Ver could always count on her fraternal twin to get her through life and vice versa. School was stressful but it helped that her best friend was constantly there and she could do the same for her. Ver valiantly faced bullies and loved to dramatically tell stories to her roommates. It was all fun and games until final exam time came around and Verity was legitimately scared for the first time in her life. The exam determined her start in life but not only that - it determined Justyce's too. It would dictate who they'd marry and separate them.

It was a day that had to come sometime and it wasn't that Ver didn't think she could stand on her own, she was sure she could but she didn't want to. She would miss her sister and their parents and even that older brother she loved to tease because that was her life. Eventually, exam day came and went and then the results rolled in. Both her and Justyce scored just below a 90 and would be drafted at the same time at 19. Life continued, the worry was pushed to the back of Ver's mind until some of her friends were being drafted and her nineteenth birthday passed. It was coming and Verity has since been counting the days and fretting over it. Not only that, but the bracelets were gone and microchips came, causing her to face yet another change, a precursor of what was to come. Draft day was coming and Verity had to brace herself for it.
