HistoryJoey is the only child of Robert and Caroline Davis. He doesn't have very many memories of his parents during his childhood due to him losing them when he was still a very young child. The only parents he has ever known were his paternal grandparents. Julian and Josslyn raised him as if he were their own son, loving him and bringing him up to be a loving, loyal young man. He never wanted for anything, though the adults in his life realized that even as he got older, the boy was happiest with a video game controller in his hands. He wasn't one to take much to sports or running around and playing, but he continued to put on muscle.
Joey was sent into the public school system with the rest of the boys without a problem. He was an okay student, pulling in Bs' and Cs' even though his grandfather obviously preferred As'. But it wasn't the boys fault. He always got so lost in his doodles and dreaming up what he planned to do that evening on the latest video game he was playing. Julian even went so far as to take away all of Joey's video games, system, and television in an attempt to get the boy to study harder to no avail. The boy was never interested in studying. He would prefer to run off around the neighborhood for a jog to clear his mind than attempt to ever study his books. Or see if his friends would let him come over and play on their game systems.
The day of his seventeenth birthday, Joey took his aptitude test. He had a high skill set in orientation, observation, and troubleshooting. His years of playing video games put him in the field of software engineering. It surprised not only Joey, but also his grandfather. After all that time trying to make the boy focus on something other than a fantasy world, his test had proved he was smarter than he put forth in school. After graduating from school at eighteen, he went on to attend the local vocational school taking courses in computer programming. He had to learn everything from the ground up and because it was something that he knew he'd be doing for the rest of his life, he made the attempt to buckle down like his grandfather had always wanted. Joey paid attention in each of his classes, taking careful notes, working on each extra credit assignment in order to maintain a good GPA. He learned all of the most update coding, how to troubleshoot his way through any program he was working on, as well as some basics in design. While in school, he took on an internship for a local company to get some practical skill along with his in class studies.
The company that Joey interned for brought him on as a full time employee after he completed his schooling. He now works on the games he grew up playing as well as some of the educational programs that are used in schools around the country. Joey wants to make learning something that is fun while entertaining at the same time, garnering the attention of young students while ensuring they are still learning the material. He finds each and every little bug in a game, works with a team of other testers to find bugs and give young gamers an enjoyable experience. He went to the sponsors like he was supposed to and continued to see one of the older women that he had liked off and on while he has awaited his draft. Joey has found that one of the few things that has ever been able to pull him away from his gaming is sex. With the announcement of the micro chips, Joey worried how it would effect his gaming. But after getting the implant, it only irritated his hand. He found ways to get around it and put his mind elsewhere, not allowing it to distract him in any way. And has now forgotten all about it.
In his downtime, he still gets to play games at home and even hangs out playing with his friends. But he does his best to keep any new games out of their hands because he wants to make sure that they get the best gaming experience possible. He also spends time taking care of his dog Roxas, walking him around the neighborhood, and playing chase and fetch in the local dog park. He's had the dog since high school graduation and he loves the ball of fur more than his favorite game hands down.
At twenty-one, Joey is just wondering how much longer he has to wait until he's drafted. He doesn't enjoy his grandfather being on his back about the hours he keeps or how long he plays video games. The older man just doesn't understand that it's all for his work. He's not just playing games to play them anymore. He's doing it to further kids educations as well as to have some fun.
